SALT LAKE CITY, March 24 (UPI) -- Utah Jazz great Karl Malone has decided to sell his Salt Lake City mansion, regardless of price, at auction May 19.
The athlete's decision to go with an "absolute auction" comes after trying to sell the log-and-stone residence, with eight bedrooms, 11 bathrooms and five fireplaces, for more than a year through a real estate agent, Salt Lake Tribune said Thursday.
Malone offered the 17,230-foot property in August 2003 for $6.1 million. He cut the price to just under $5.8 million, but still couldn't get a nibble.
Amenities include a 100-foot water slide, basketball half court and indoor shooting range.
Proceeds from the May 19 auction will help Malone cover the more than $5 million he just put down on a new home in Newport Beach, Calif.
