SPRINGFIELD, Mo., March 19 (UPI) -- Brendan Winters scored 22 points Saturday to lead Davidson to an 82-71 win over Southwest Missouri State in the first round of the NIT.

Jason Morton added 19 points for Davidson (23-9) which will meet Maryland in the second round on Monday.

Deke Thompson led SMS (19-13) with 15 points.
