Morgan leads on Champions Tour

March 18, 2005 at 10:11 PM   |   Comments

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif., March 18 (UPI) -- Gil Morgan shot a 6-under 65 Friday to take a one-shot lead after one round of the Tosiba Senior Classic.

Tom Jenkins and Wayne Levi were tied for second at 66 while former champion Allen Doyle, Mark McNulty and J.C. Snead were among those at 67.

Morgan's round was highlighted by a 49-foot eagle putt at the par-5 15th.

"I didn't play well last week so I was a little apprehensive coming in here this week," Morgan said. "Not making any bogies is critical to shooting low. All in all, I played consistent."
