ST. LOUIS, March 16 (UPI) -- The St. Louis Rams signed offensive tackle Orlando Pace to a seven year deal Wednesday, a contract reportedly worth $52.9 million.

"We are excited that the premier left tackle in the National Football League will be starting for the Rams for the next seven years," Rams President of Football Operations Jay Zygmunt said.

"Orlando has been an integral part of one of the most prolific offenses in NFL history."

Pace, 29, has played under one-year deals for each of the last two seasons.

He was the first pick in the 1997 draft and has been to the Pro Bowl six times.
