Michigan State assistant gets Tulsa job

TULSA, Okla., March 14 (UPI) -- Doug Wojcik, a Michigan State assistant basketball coach for the past two years, was named head coach at Tulsa University Monday.

Wojcik replaces Pooh Williamson, who had been interim coach following the Christmas Day resignation of John Phillips.

"In Doug Wojcik, we have selected an experienced collegiate coach who has worked at the highest level of Division I basketball," said Steadman Upham, the university's president.

"He is an individual who is a leader with a vision of Tulsa basketball as a nationally prominent program."

Wojcik also has been an assistant at Navy (his alma mater), Notre Dame and North Carolina.
