
CHICAGO, March 13 (UPI) -- Top-ranked Illinois posted a 54-43 victory Sunday over No. 22 Wisconsin in the title game at the Big Ten tournament.
Roger Powell Jr. had 15 points and 12 rebounds and Luther Head and James Augustine each scored 12 points. Augustine also had nine rebounds.
The Fighting Illini (32-1) avenged a 70-53 loss to Wisconsin in last year's championship game. They won the Big Ten tournament for the second time in three years. Illinois beat Ohio State in the 2003 game.
Illinois' bid for a perfect season ended last Sunday with a one-point loss at Ohio State in its regular-season finale.
Alando Tucker was high scorer for Wisconsin (22-8) with only nine points.
Wisconsin was behind by 15 points with 7 1/2 minutes to play, but ralled to close to 46-41 with 4:41 remaining.
