Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

CINCINNATI, March 7 (UPI) -- Running back Rudi Johnson Monday re-signed with the Cincinnati Bengals for one year at $6.3 million.
The four-year veteran was named the Bengals' franchise player last month, and his salary for next season is equal to the average of the top five running backs in the NFL last year.
There is the likelihood that he will negotiate a longer deal with another team.
"I'm ready to play and do what I do best," Johnson said. "I'm glad to still be a Bengal. I think our team can give (the fans) a lot to cheer about this year."
In 2004, Johnson rushed for 1,454 yards, a single-season franchise record. In his career, he has rushed for 2,478 yards on 593 carries (an average of 4.2 yards per carry) and 21 touchdowns.
