HOMESTEAD, Fla., March 6 (UPI) -- Dan Wheldon won Sunday's Toyota Indy 300 at the Homestead-Miami Speedway, finishing 3.6936 seconds ahead of runner-up Sam Hornish Jr.

The victory was the fourth of Wheldon's IndyCar career.

Wheldon held a 0.2159-second lead on Helio Castroneves at the halfway mark of the 200-lap race. With 50 laps remaining, he was still in the top-five, but was trailing Castroneves, teammate Tony Kanaan and Scott Sharp.

Wheldon led a total of 158 of 200 laps.

Kanaan finished third, Vitor Meira fourth, and Castroneves fifth.
