Cory Alexander signs with Bobcats

CHARLOTTE, N.C., Feb. 28 (UPI) -- Guard Cory Alexander returned to the NBA Monday, signing with the Charlotte Bobcats.

Alexander played for San Antonio, Denver and Orlando before leaving the league in 2001.

"Cory will improve our depth at the point guard position," Coach Bernie Bickerstaff said. "It will also give Jason Hart an opportunity to play both the point guard and shooting guard positions."

Alexander played for Roanoke of the National Basketball Development League this season, averaging 16.4 points and 8.3 assists per game.

The 1994 first-round draft pick (by San Antonio) averaged 5.6 points and 2.7 assists over six seasons with the Spurs, Nuggets and Magic.
