O'Hern ousted Woods during the morning, 4 & 3, and then eliminated Mike Donald in the afternoon, 1-up. Singh lost in the morning to Jay Haas and Haas was then eliminated by Chris DiMarco.

Mickelson easily survived his morning match against Angel Cabrera, but then fell to David Toms.

Only Retief Goosen, ranked fifth in the world, and Stewart Cink (No. 8) among the top 10 will play in Saturday's quarterfinals.

The quarterfinal lineup will be DiMarco vs. Cink, Goosen vs. Robert Allenby, O'Hern vs. Ian Poulter and Toms vs. Adam Scott.

Woods had a series of putts skirt the edge of the hole as he had a 13-match winning streak in this event halted. He was the two-time defending champion.
