NBA: New Jersey 107, Chicago 97

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J., Feb. 1 (UPI) -- Vince Carter scored 31 points and Jason Kidd had 26 points, 13 rebounds and nine assists Tuesday night to lead the New Jersey Nets to a 107-97 win over Chicago.

Jacque Vaughn added 23 points for the Nets, who have won four in a row.

The Nets learned Tuesday that guard Rodney Buford will be sidelined up to six weeks with torn ligaments in his left ankle.

The Nets trailed 49-48 at halftime, but scored 21 of the first 25 points of the third quarter to take a 69-53 lead. New Jersey led by 13 after three quarters. Chicago closed to 88-81 with 5:44 to go, but got no closer the rest of the way.
