DETROIT, Jan. 31 (UPI) -- New Detroit Pistons backup point guard Carlos Arroyo had surgery Monday to fix a broken nose.

Arroyo's status is listed as "doubtful" for at least two games this week, against Washington and Atlanta.

The 25-year-old Arroyo was accidentally hit on the nose by the elbow of New York's Trevor Ariza in a 91-61 win over the Knicks Saturday.

The Pistons acquired Arroyo from the Utah Jazz less than two weeks ago. He has averaged eight points a game this season.

Arroyo will be fitted with a protective mask. His status is to be re-evaluated prior to a game at New Jersey Saturday.
