WILMINGTON, Del., Jan. 28 (UPI) -- Jennifer Capriati underwent shoulder surgery Friday, an operation that should allow her to resume her tennis career.

Capriati, a three-time major championship winner, is ranked 10th in the world despite the fact she has not played since November.

She suffered an injury to her right shoulder almost three months ago while playing in the Advanta Championships.

Capriati, 28, has 14 career titles to her credit.
