Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

TAMPA, Fla., Jan. 24 (UPI) -- Paul Hackett, former offensive coordinator of the New York Jets, signed on Monday as quarterbacks coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Hackett left the Jets last Wednesday following the overtime loss to Pittsburgh in the AFC divisional playoffs. He was succeeded by Mike Heimerdinger, offensive coordinator at Tennessee.
Hackett, 57, has coached in the NFL for 16 years. Before spending the last four with the Jets, he was offensive coordinator for Kansas City (1993-1997) followed by three seasons as head coach at the Southern California.
He also has been head coach at the University of Pittsburgh and an NFL assistant with Cleveland, San Francisco and Dallas.
