Titch Moore, Bruce Vaughan share golf lead

DURBAN, South Africa, Jan. 20 (UPI) -- South African Titch Moore and American Bruce Vaughan shared the first-round lead at 7-under-par 65 Thursday in the South African Airways Open.

The tournament is part of the European Tour's international schedule.

Tjaart van der Walt of South Africa carded a 66 and six players were tied at 68, including South African Tim Clark, who won the event in 2002.

Defending champion Trevor Immelman was in a group at 70 and Darren Clarke, the highest-ranked player in the field, shot 72.

Vaughan, 48, who has been a regular on the South African Tour for several years, plays occasionally in Nationwide Tour events in the United States and was on the PGA Tour in 1995.
