COL BKB: Boston College 73, W. Virginia 53

MORGANTOWN, W.Va., Jan. 16 (UPI) -- A big second half by Craig Smith Sunday helped 17th-ranked Boston College pound West Virginia 73-53.

The unbeaten Eagles broke out of a 29-29 halftime tie, led by Smith who scored 15 of his 20 points in the second half. Jared Dudley scored 21 for Boston College (14-0, 3-0 Big East).

West Virginia, which opened the season 10-0, fell to 11-3, 1-2 Big East. The Mountaineers were outscored 44-24 in the final 20 minutes.

Mike Gansey had 14 points and Tyrone Sally 13 for WVU.
