NBA: San Antonio 98, Dallas 95

SAN ANTONIO, Jan. 14 (UPI) -- Manu Ginobili made two free throws with 12 seconds remaining Friday night to give San Antonio a 98-95 victory over Dallas.

Tim Duncan scored 25 points and the Spurs fought off a late rally by the Mavericks.

Ginobili added 22 points to help give San Antonio its 14th win in 17 games.

Dirk Nowitzki scored 36 for Dallas, including 14 in a frantic fourth quarter.

San Antonio opened an 81-69 lead early in the fourth, but Dallas went on a 7-0 run and eventually closed within 95-93 with 43 seconds left on a three-pointer by Jason Terry.

Ginobili next tried a three-pointer with time running out on the shot clock. He missed it, but Devin Brown claimed the rebound for the Spurs and Ginobili wound up being fouled with 12 seconds to go.

His two free throws gave the Spurs a four-point cushion.
