SPOKANE, Wash., Jan. 14 (UPI) -- J.P. Batista helped Gonzaga to a first-half cushion Thursday night and the No. 20 Bulldogs went on to down Loyola-Marymount, 76-65.
Batista scored 15 of his 17 points in the initial period. Gonzaga ended the first half on a 17-8 run that opened a 40-27 advantage.

The Bulldogs climbed to 12-3 and to 2-1 in the WCC.
Loyola-Marymount was led by Matthew Knight with 20. The Lions are 9-7 and 1-2.
