Greg Robinson named Syracuse coach

SYRACUSE, N.Y., Jan. 11 (UPI) -- Greg Robinson, an assistant on college and pro coaching staffs for three decades, was named head football coach at Syracuse Tuesday.

Robinson, 53, spent 14 years in the NFL with the Kansas City Chiefs, Denver Broncos and New York Jets. In 2004, he was on the staff at Texas, which won the Rose Bowl.

"I'm very excited," Robinson said. "I've been waiting 30 years for this."

Robinson also was an assistant at Pacific, North Carolina State, Cal State-Fullerton and UCLA.

He replaces Paul Pasqualoni, who was fired last month after 14 years as coach at Syracuse.
