PORTLAND, Ore., Jan. 8 (UPI) -- Shaquille O'Neal led Miami to its eighth consecutive road victory Friday night with a 28-point effort as the Heat downed Portland, 103-92.

Dwyane Wade added 25 points in helping Miami claim its 16th victory in 17 games.

Portland lost its third straight despite a season-best, 27-point production by Ruben Patterson.

Miami built a quick 18-4 lead, owned a 58-45 advantage at intermission and fought off a Trail Blazers comeback that brought them within six midway through the final quarter.
