STARKVILLE, Miss., Jan. 5 (UPI) -- Mississippi State began its SEC schedule with a 90-53 crushing of Auburn Wednesday night, an effort led by Lawrence Roberts' 19 points.

The Bulldogs won their seventh straight while improving to 13-2.

Auburn (9-5) was paced by Toney Douglas with 14 points. Auburn tried 38 three-point shots but made only 10 of them.

The teams combined to score just four points each through the game's first 4:30, but the Bulldogs then went on a 12-2 run. They had another 10-0 surge later in the half and were not threatened again.

It was Mississippi State's eighth straight win over Auburn.
