LAWRENCE, Kan., Jan. 5 (UPI) -- Alex Galindo's three-pointer with 41 seconds remaining put Kansas in front Wednesday night as the No. 2 Jayhawks fought off Texas A&M, 65-60.

Kansas remained unbeaten while the surprising Aggies lost for the first time this season. Texas A&M had been trying to open a season with 12 straight wins for the first time in 84 years.

Dominique Kirk made a three-point shot with 1:40 to play for the Aggies, tying the game at 56-56.

The game was still tied at 58-58 when Galindo made his big shot. Kirk tried a three-pointer with two seconds remaining that would have tied it, but he failed to draw iron.

Aaron Miles led Kansas city 15 points and Michael Lee had 10. The Aggies were paced by Joseph Jones with 16.
