Lewis retires as Detroit offensive coach

ALLEN PARK, Mich., Jan. 3 (UPI) -- Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Sherman Lewis will retire Feb. 1, it was announced Monday.

Lewis has spent 22 years coaching in the NFL and 37 years combined at the high school, college and professional level.

He joined the Lions in 2002 after spending two seasons with the Minnesota Vikings in the same capacity. He has also coached in the NFL for Green Bay and San Francisco and spent 14 years coaching at his alma mater Michigan State.
