NFL: Tennessee 24, Detroit 19

NASHVILLE, Jan. 2 (UPI) -- Antowain Smith scored the game-clinching touchdown Sunday as the Tennessee Titans defeated the Detroit Lions, 24-19.

The Titans (5-11) ended a five-game losing streak, while the Lions (6-10) lost eight of their last 10 games.

Tennessee's Billy Volek passed for 175 yards and a touchdown before leaving the game early in the fourth quarter with a sprained right shoulder.

Detroit's Joey Harrington completed 33-of-49 passes for 346 yards with two touchdowns and an interception.

A two-yard plunge by Smith made the score 21-13 just before the end of the third quarter. Smith finished a six-play, 80-yard drive with 47 yards on three carries, including a 44-yard run to the Lions' 12-yard line.

Gary Anderson kicked a 40-yard field goal to give Tennessee a 10-point cushion with 10:25 to go in the final quarter.
