COL BKB: Washington 81, California 67

SEATTLE, Dec. 31 (UPI) -- Tre Simmons scored 18 points Friday, boosting No. 16 Washington past California, 81-67.

The game was the Pac-10 Conference opener for both teams.

The Huskies won their seventh straight to improve to 11-1. Bobby Jones added 16 points and Will Conroy had 11.

California had a three-game winning streak halted, but not before the Bears overcame a 16-point, first-half deficit. Bobby Jones led California with 16 points.

The Bears slipped to 7-4 for the season.
