COL BKB: St. John's 63, North Car. St. 45

NEW YORK, Dec. 30 (UPI) -- Daryll Hill scored 17 points Thursday night in leading St. John's to a 63-45 upset triumph over No. 15 North Carolina State.

The Red Storm's win came in the title game of the ECAC Classic.

St. John's scored the first eight points and never trailed. Eugene Lawrence added 10 points for the Red Storm (6-4).

Julius Hodge led North Carolina State with 19 points, but he missed his first nine shots of the game. The Wolfpack (10-2) fell behind by as many as 24 points in the first half.

North Carolina State got only 19 points from its starters.
