COLUMBIA, Mo., Dec. 30 (UPI) -- Jason Conley scored 16 points and Missouri survived a late flurry Thursday night to defeat No. 21 Gonzaga, 63-61.
Missouri improved to 7-5 and bounced back from a loss to No. 1 Illinois.
Gonzaga (10-2) was led by J.P. Batista with 17 points.
Missouri led by as many as 10 points in the second half, but went cold from the field as Gonzaga pulled within one inside the two-minute mark.
Kevin Young made one free throw for Missouri with 1:25 to play and Gonzaga's Ronny Turiaf had a chance to tie the game from the line with 31 seconds left, but missed both free throw attempts.
Missouri's Kalen Grimes then did the same thing with 7.6 seconds to go, giving Gonzaga a chance. But Turiaf missed a baseline jumper at the buzzer.
