NEW YORK, Dec. 29 (UPI) -- Indianapolis quarterback Peyton Manning, who broke the NFL record for touchdown passes in a season, has again been named an NFL Player of the Week.
The Colts' star was named the top offensive player in the AFC, the fourth time he earned the honor this season.
Manning tossed two scoring passes Sunday in a 34-31 overtime victory over San Diego, raising his total to 49 this season and breaking the two-decades-old record of Dan Marino.
Also named in the AFC were Denver linebacker D.J. Williams (defense), who had 10 tackles and an interception against Tennessee, and Kansas City kick-returner Dante Hall (special teams), who had six kickoff returns for 175 yards against Oakland.
Their NFC counterparts were Seattle running back Shaun Alexander (154 yards on 30 carries and three touchdowns in a 24-21 victory over Arizona); St. Louis tackle Bryce Fisher (seven tackles, one sack, and one forced fumble against Philadelphia) and New Orleans kick-returner Michael Lewis (returned three kickoffs for 122 yards and one touchdown against Atlanta).
