Former Raiders center arrested in Calif.

SAN FRANCISCO, Dec. 25 (UPI) -- Former Oakland Raiders center Barret Robbins has been arrested after he allegedly hit a San Francisco security guard who escorted him from a hotel.

Robbins was being held on $1,000 bail Saturday on suspicion of battery and public drunkenness following the Christmas Eve incident at the Sir Francis Drake Hotel, the San Francisco Chronicle reported.

A police spokesman said the guard confronted Robbins, who was wandering near a bar on the 21st floor of the hotel, and asked what he was doing.

Robbins, an admitted alcoholic and bipolar disorder sufferer, was escorted off the premises by the guard.

"All of a sudden, he comes back, and the guard turned around, and he (Robbins) hit him," the spokesman said.

Robbins played 121 games for the Raiders over nine seasons from 1995 to 2003.

He was released the Raiders in July, after he tested positive for steroids.
