Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24
ST. LOUIS, Dec. 22 (UPI) -- A 20-point effort by Luther Head Wednesday night helped No. 1 Illinois fight off Missouri, 70-64.
Deron Williams added 19 points, Roger Powell 14 and Dee Brown 11 as Illinois improved to 11-0.
Missouri (6-5) had won two in a row. The Tigers were led by Linas Kleiza with 25.
The Illini had a 15-point halftime lead, but Missouri got back in it with a 17-6 run. The Tigers were within five with 7:48 to play, but Brown hit a three-pointer and Head followed with a layup to end the Missouri threat.
