NBA: Memphis 82, LA Lakers 72

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 21 (UPI) -- Shane Battier scored 17 points to lead the Memphis Grizzlies over the Los Angeles Lakers 82-72 Monday.

Paul Gasol added 14 points for the Grizzlies, who had never before beaten the Lakers in Los Angeles.

Los Angeles missed its last 12 shots from the field.

Caron Butler led the Lakers with 16 points.
