COL BKB: Connecticut 81, Rice 72

HARTFORD, Conn., Dec. 19 (UPI) -- Rashad Anderson scored 27 points Sunday to lead the 13th-ranked Connecticut Huskies to an 81-72 victory over the Rice Owls.

Josh Boone added 20 points and 14 rebounds for the Huskies (5-1), who won for the fifth time in six games.

Michael Harris had 22 points and nine rebounds for the Owls (5-2), who had their three-game winning streak halted.

Connecticut took an early 12-5 lead on Boone's tip-in with 16:23 left in the first half and the margin grew to eight points moments later. Rice got to 19-16 on J.R. Harrison's three-pointer with just over 12 minutes remaining in the first half.
