Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

MEMPHIS, Dec. 17 (UPI) -- James Posey hit four free throws in the final 12 seconds Friday night to give Memphis an 89-84 victory over New Jersey.
Jason Williams scored 27 points and Pau Gasol had 16 as the Grizzlies ended a two-game skid.
Memphis owned a nine-point lead midway through the final period before New Jersey climbed to within 85-84 with 16 seconds left.
But Posey sealed the win from the foul line.
Richard Jefferson scored 26 points for New Jersey, which lost its second straight.
The Nets, losers of eight of their 10 road games this year, learned prior to the game they will soon have Vince Carter on the court. Carter was obtained in a trade with Toronto.
