BLOOMINGTON, Ind., Dec. 17 (UPI) -- Terry Hoeppner was hired Friday as football coach at Indiana University.
Hoeppner has been the coach at Miami (Ohio) since 1999 and was an assistant at the school for 13 years before that.
"We talked to some terrific coaches throughout our search, but Terry Hoeppner stands above the rest," said Athletic Director Rick Greenspan. "Miami University has one of the most impressive traditions in college football. Both as an assistant and head coach, Terry has helped Miami regain its national presence."
The RedHawks went 48-23 during the six seasons Hoeppner was head coach. They were 13-1 this season.
"There is really only one job that I would ever leave Miami for and that is Indiana University," Hoeppner said. "IU is an opportunity that I always said in the back of my mind, 'someday'. Well, that someday is now."
