ANAHEIM, Calif., Dec. 13 (UPI) -- Milwaukee Monday got outfielder Carlos Lee from the Chicago White Sox for outfielder Scott Podsednik, pitcher Luis Vizcaino and an unnamed player.
The trade was announced on the final day of the baseball winter meetings.
Lee, 28, batted. 305 with 31 home runs and 99 RBI over 153 games last season. Over the last two years, the righthander has 62 homers and 212 RBI.
"This was one of our biggest priorities in the offseason, our hitting," Brewers General Manager Doug Melvin said. "Last year in the second half we didn't do very well and we really did need a middle-of-the-order hitter."
Lee, playing in 148 games, was the only major league outfielder to play more than 108 games and not commit an error. He had 11 outfield assists, which tied for fourth in the American League.
Lee spent his six-year career with the White Sox and has a .288 average, 152 homers and 552 RBI.
