Sandy Alomar goes to Rangers

ARLINGTON, Texas, Dec. 8 (UPI) -- Six-time all-star catcher Sandy Alomar signed a one-year contract Wednesday with the Texas Rangers.

The 38-year-old Alomar spent the past four years with the Chicago White Sox. He played in only 50 games last season, batting .240.

Alomar has been in the major leagues 16 years, also playing for San Diego, Cleveland and Colorado.
