PHILADELPHIA, Dec. 8 (UPI) -- The Philadelphia Phillies signed right-hander Jon Lieber to a three-year, $21 million contract Wednesday.

Lieber, 34, was 14-8 with the New York Yankees in 2004.

"Jon's been an all-star-Star, a 20-game winner and a workhorse throughout his career," Phillies General Manager Ed Wade said. "We're very pleased to have him in our rotation."

Lieber started his major league career with the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1994.
