Chris Chandler to start for Rams

Dec. 7, 2004 at 10:39 AM   |   Comments

ST. LOUIS, Dec. 7 (UPI) -- Chris Chandler will be the starting quarterback for the St. Louis Rams in Sunday's game against the Carolina Panthers.

Chandler guided the Rams to a 16-6 win over San Francisco last week after Marc Bulger suffered a sprained right shoulder.

Chandler, 39, was 18-of-27 for 216 yards with one touchdown pass. The 16-year veteran, who signed as a free agent in March, did not have an interception and was not sacked.

"I am excited about the potential of what he (Chandler) can do for us this week," said Coach Mike Martz.

Chandler, who also has played for Indianapolis, Tampa Bay, Phoenix, Houston, Atlanta and Chicago, will be making his 151st career start.
