Texas' Johnson wins Bronco Nagurski Trophy

CHARLOTTE, N.C., Dec. 6 (UPI) -- Texas linebacker Derrick Johnson won the Bronco Nagurski Trophy Monday as the best defensive player in college football

The 2003 consensus first-team All-American and two-time first-team All-Big 12 pick has posted 19 tackles for losses, 10 quarterback pressures, one interception, eight pass breakups and a Texas single-season record eight forced fumbles this season.

With three tackles for loss at Kansas on Nov. 13, Johnson increased his career total to 63 and broke a Longhorns' all-time record that had stood for 22 years. He added two against Texas A&M and now has 65.
