Appleby takes lead in South Africa event

SUN CITY, South Africa, Dec. 3 (UPI) -- Stuart Appleby's 69 Friday gave him a one-shot lead after two rounds of the Nedbank Golf Challenge in South Africa.

Appleby's score was 5-under-par 139 at the halfway mark of the tournament at the Gary Player Country Club.

Lee Westwood shot 70 for 140 and Retief Goosen and Nick Price were at 141. Ernie Els was at even-par 144, followed by Chris DiMarco at 145.
