Estes leads Australian PGA

COOLUM, Australia, Dec. 2 (UPI) -- American Bob Estes took a one-shot lead in the Australian PGA Championship Thursday with an opening round 63.

Estes, a four-time winner on the U.S. PGA Tour, had a string of four straight birdies in his 9-under-par round.

Australian Craig Spence shot 64. American tour veteran Corey Pavin was among eight players at 6-under 67.
