NFL: San Diego 34, Kansas City 31

KANSAS CITY, Mo., Nov. 28 (UPI) -- A career-best effort from Drew Brees and a 43-yard field goal by Nate Kaeding with 2:24 left Sunday gave San Diego a 34-31 win over Kansas City.

Brees connected on 28 of 37 passes for a career-high 378 yards and two touchdowns.

If was the fifth straight win for San Diego (8-3), which began the day tied with Denver for the lead in the AFC West. The Chargers will host Denver next Sunday.

Both Antonio Gates and Kassim Osgood had 92 receiving yards for the Chargers, who had lost in their seven previous trips to Kansas City.

LaDainian Tomlinson scored two of San Diego's touchdowns, although he was limited to 46 rushing yards.

Kansas City (3-8) has lost four straight. Trent Green was 21 of 34 for 208 yards for the Chiefs.
