Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

KAUAI, Hawaii, Nov. 23 (UPI) -- U.S. Open champion Retief Goosen shot a 7-under-par 65 Tuesday to take the first round lead of the PGA Grand Slam of Golf.
PGA Champion Vijay Singh missed a short birdie putt that would have put him into a tie for first. Singh shot 66.
Masters champion Phil Mickelson eagled the last hole for a 68 and British Open champ Todd Hamilton rounded out the field at 70.
"It was nice to get off to a good start," Goosen said. "I'm looking forward to tomorrow."
"I should have made that one on the last," said Singh. "But you just have to be patient. I'm looking forward to it."
Mickelson also had an eagle at at the par-five second hole.
