COL FB: Texas-ElPaso 57, SMU 27

EL PASO, Texas, Nov. 20 (UPI) -- Jordan Palmer passed for 339 yards and five touchdowns Saturday to lead No. 25 Texas-ElPaso to a 57-27 victory over SMU.

Palmer completed 20 of 27 passes with one interception for the Miners (8-2, 6-1 WAC), who have won seven straight since a loss to No. 12 Boise State more than two months ago.

Jayson Boyd caught six passes for 122 yards and a touchdown and John Higgins caught four for 78 yards and two TDs.

Howard Jackson rushed for 99 yards for UTEP, which scored 45 straight points.

Jerad Romo passed for 158 yards and a touchdown, while also scoring on the ground for the losing Mustangs (3-8, 3-5).
