Nebraska lineman charged with assault

NORMAN, Okla., Nov. 19 (UPI) -- Police have charged Nebraska offensive lineman Darren DeLone with assault for allegedly striking an Oklahoma student prior to last Saturday's game.

The police report said DeLone hit Adam Merritt, a member of Nebraska's spirit group, in the face with his helmet. Merritt lost two teeth and suffered a concussion.

DeLone was not detained after the game.
