Robinson to stay on as Washington manager

VIERA, Fla., Nov. 18 (UPI) -- Jim Bowden, interim general manager of the Montreal-Washington franchise, announced Thursday Frank Robinson would manage the team in 2005.

The announcement came on the day Major League Baseball owners delayed a final vote to move the Expos to Washington.

The vote is still expected to take place prior to baseball's winter meetings, which begin Dec. 6.

Robinson has managed the Expos the last three years, compiling a 233-253 record. He signed a one-year deal and could still be replaced by the franchise's new owners when MLB eventually sells the team.

Robinson has also managed Cleveland, San Francisco and Baltimore.
