Carolina offensive lineman out for season

CHARLOTTE, N.C., Nov. 8 (UPI) -- Carolina Panthers offensive lineman Doug Brzezinski is out for the rest of the season after breaking his hip in Sunday's loss to Oakland.

Brzezinski hasn't missed a game since being drafted by Philadelphia in the third round of the 1999 NFL draft. Although he was injured in the first quarter Sunday, he continued to play.

"He thought he was just playing poorly," said Carolina Coach John Fox on Monday. "As it turned out, he had a broken hip."

Carolina also will place defensive back Travares Tillman on the injured reserve this week with a broken right arm. The Panthers will have 10 players on Injured Reserve.

Carolina running back Stephen Davis continues to nurse a right knee injury that required surgery earlier this season.
