
TORONTO, Nov. 8 (UPI) -- Former National Hockey League defensemen Raymond Bourque, Paul Coffey and Larry Murphy were inducted Monday into the Hockey Hall of Fame.
The three were joined by former general manager Cliff Fletcher in the "builders" category.
Bourque played 22 NHL seasons and is the top-scoring defenseman in league history. His 410 goals, 1,169 assists and 1,579 points are all records for defensemen.
Coffey, who entered the league one year after Bourque,
had offensive numbers are second only to Bourque's among defensemen. He had 396 goals and 1,135 assists for 1,531 points in 21 seasons.
Murphy joined the NHL the same year as Coffey. In 21 NHL seasons, he scored 287 goals and added 929 assists for 1,216 points.
Fletcher joined the Calgary franchise as the general manager in 1972 when the club was located in Atlanta and helped organize the move to Calgary in 1980, then remained with the team through 1991.
