NBA: Toronto 95, Houston 88

TORONTO, Nov. 3 (UPI) -- Chris Bosh scored 20 points and Toronto rode a big second quarter Wednesday night as the Raptors downed Houston, 95-88.

The Rockets lost for the second time in as many nights to open the season.

Jalen Rose chipped in 17 for Toronto and Vince Carter had 16 in the head coaching debut of Sam Mitchell. He took over the Raptors after Kevin O'Neill was fired at the end of the 2003-04 season.

Toronto scored 33 points in the second quarter to open a 13-point lead. Tracy McGrady scored 21 points for Houston while Yao Ming had 17.

It was the third straight season-opening win for the Raptors.
