Tommie Harris' wife dies
HOUSTON, Nov. 2 (UPI) -- Houston Rockets star Tracy McGrady has a contract extension that will keep him with the team through the 2009-10 season.
The Houston Chronicle reported that the deal, approved Monday, could be worth as much as $63 million over three years.
"Tracy McGrady is one of the greatest players in the game today," General Manager Leslie Alexander said. "This marks another stone in the foundation to making the Rockets one of the premier organizations in all of sports."
McGrady, 25, a four-time all-star with Orlando, has won the NBA scoring title two years in a row.
The Rockets acquired him in a blockbuster trade with the Magic in the off-season. Orlando got guards Steve Francis and Cuttino Mobley.
McGrady, who also has played for Toronto, has averaged 21.4 points and 6.4 rebounds per contest in 487 games in the NBA. He was a first-round pick by the Raptors straight out of high school in 1997.
